Richard Scartozzi, M.D., C.P.I., F.A.C.S., F.I.C.S., F.A.A.O., F.A.P.C.R.
Dr. Scartozzi is a board-certified ophthalmologist whose passion for eye care shines through in his work and personal life. Inspired by the intricate beauty of the eye observed during his time at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Scartozzi chose a career in ophthalmology where he has made significant contributions.
Dr. Scartozzi is motivated every day by the opportunity to help patients retain their vision and continue their daily activities. One of his proudest moments includes performing emergency surgery on a flight instructors’ eyes, enabling him to return to his profession.
Research
Dr. Scartozzi has been working on ophthalmology clinical studies since 2006. He has been part of 11 studies, serving as the CPI on 7 studies, and a sub-investigator on 2 of the studies. Some of the top studies he’s worked on include finding treatments for: diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related degeneration.
Dr. Scartozzi actively engages in clinical research to stay at the forefront of cutting-edge therapies. He believes that research is vital for integrating the latest advancements into patient care and is always open to discussing research opportunities with interested patients.
